The Kia Sorento is available in three different
versions: the Kia Sorento, the Kia Sorento Hybrid, and the Kia Sorento Plug-In
Hybrid. The fully-gas powered Kia Sorento comes standard with a 2.5-liter
four-cylinder engine producing 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. A
turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder appears under the hood for the Kia Sorento
EX trim and higher, making 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of
torque.
The Kia Sorento Hybrid pairs the 1.6-liter engine with
a powerful electric battery and motor setup. The result is 227 horsepower and
258 pound-feet of torque and improved fuel economy over the fully gas-powered
variants.
Finally, the Kia Sorento Plug-In Hybrid uses a
similar setup, with the same 1.6-liter engine and electric components. While it
can travel over 30 miles on a full charge, your range is never limited, thanks
to the combustion engine. No matter what version of the Kia Sorento you opt
for, you'll have plenty of power for around-town driving and high-speed passing
maneuvers.
