The Kia Seltos is a well-rounded subcompact crossover with attractive accommodations, appealing amenities, and plentiful practicality. It's a great pick for Burlington-area drivers seeking extra utility while retaining city-friendly space requirements. The Seltos gets even better for 2024, sporting a bold new look, more cabin refinement, and dual-panoramic displays.

The Seltos is among the most compelling crossovers in the subcompact segment. To demonstrate what we mean, here's a look at how it compares in a few key areas to a prominent class competitor, the Honda HR-V

Bethel to Burlington

2024 Kia Seltos vs. Honda HR-V: Performance

The Kia Seltos and Honda HR-V both come standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. The HR-V (158 horsepower/138 pound-feet of torque) has a bit more internal motivation than the Seltos's base powertrain (146 horsepower/132 pound-feet of torque). However, if you're seeking something a little peppier to power your Randolph commute, Kia offers an upgrade. Seltos X-Line and SX models utilize a 1.6-liter turbo-four, sending 195 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Both models offer all-wheel-drive systems for enhanced handling and control in inclement conditions. However, the 2024 Seltos includes AWD as standard in its base configuration (LX) and top two tiers (X-Line, SX) and as an option for mid-level S and EX models. The Honda HR-V doesn't offer standard AWD for any level.

2024 Kia Seltos vs. Honda HR-V: Accommodations and Practicality

The Kia Seltos and Honda HR-V are two of the roomiest models in the subcompact crossover segment. Still, the Seltos has the edge in interior space. Rear seat passengers, in particular, will appreciate the Seltos for its extra head, leg, and hip room.

The Kia Seltos has 26.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats to carry your luggage, gear, or groceries. The Honda HR-V isn't far behind, with 24.4 cubic feet. However, when you need to maximize cargo space for an errand or outing, the Seltos provides a capacious 62.8 cubic feet, while the HR-V is limited to 55.1 cubes.

2024 Kia Seltos vs. Honda HR-V: Technology

The Kia Seltos comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, providing seamless access to smartphone features like hands-free calls and messages, Google or Apple Maps, your music library, streaming media, and more. However, step up to any trim above the base model, and you'll get dual 10.25-inch panoramic displays for the infotainment system and digital instrument display.

The Honda HR-V comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. It offers an upgraded 9-inch infotainment display, but it's restricted to the highest trim level. It also has a 7-inch driver display, but it's not a fully digital instrument panel.

Every Kia Seltos except the base trim includes Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist. The HR-V offers blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alert systems as an option for EX and EX-L models. However, while both crossovers have available heated front seats, the Seltos also offers cooled front seats, which you can't get in the HR-V.

2024 Kia Seltos vs. Honda HR-V: Performance

The Kia Seltos is covered by industry-leading warranties, including a 5-year/60,000 basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

The Honda HR-V comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
