2024 Kia Telluride vs. the competition

Compare our new Kia Telluride to the competition

At Preston's Kia, we've been proud to serve growing families throughout the Green Mountain State through our many years in business. And if there's one thing we've learned about the automotive needs of families from Burlington, VT to Randolph, VT, it's that bigger is almost always better. Fortunately, the flagship SUV of our new Kia lineup is the new Kia Telluride, and it embodies that maxim perfectly. This big and bold midsize SUV is a perfect fit for VT families, and if you need further evidence of its excellence, take a look at how it stacks up to some of its chief road rivals.

The Kia Telluride vs. the Ford Explorer

  • Room for Eight Passengers: While both the Kia Telluride and Ford Explorer are three-row SUVs, only the Kia Telluride has space for up to eight passengers. The Ford Explorer can only seat seven, or six if you opt to swap out the second-row bench for captain's chairs.
  • Cargo Space: Pop the trunk of the new Kia Telluride and you'll find a surprisingly roomy 21 cubic-feet of luggage space for day-to-day items, groceries, and more. With the new Ford Explorer, you'll just have to make do with 16.3 cubic-feet of cargo space behind its third row.
  • Cabin Quality: With standard synthetic leather upholstery and high-quality materials throughout, the new Kia Telluride is one SUV that Barre, VT families can truly enjoy every moment in. Standard cloth seating and middling materials quality leave the new Ford Explorer feeling lacking by comparison.

The Kia Telluride vs. the Volkswagen Atlas

  • Towing Capacity: With the ability to tow payloads of up to 5,500 pounds, the new Kia Telluride is a great fit for Bethel, VT families who want to liven up their vacation by towing along a travel trailer or boat. The VW Atlas can only tow up to 5,000 pounds, limiting your options substantially.
  • Technology: With a larger standard touchscreen for its infotainment system and onboard navigation, it's easy to find your way around town or plan your next road trip with the new Kia Telluride than it is with the VW Atlas.
  • Off-Road Capability: With a ruggedly equipped X-Pro trim, the new Kia Telluride can tackle tough terrain and steep access roads on the way to your favorite ski destinations with ease. By comparison, the new Volkswagen Atlas doesn't have much in the way of off-road features, making it more of an around-town SUV.

The Kia Telluride vs. the Toyota Highlander

  • Horsepower: With up to 291 horsepower standard, the new Kia Telluride leaves the 265-horsepower Toyota Highlander in its rearview mirror.
  • Third Row Space: The Toyota Highlander can seat up to eight passengers, but quarters are quite cramped in its rearmost seating positions. With less headroom and legroom than the Kia Telluride in the third row, only smaller children will be comfortable riding in the back in the new Toyota Highlander on longer drives.
  • Safety: Both the new Kia Telluride and the Toyota Highlander have robust suites of safety technologies. However, it's worth noting that the 2024 Kia Telluride earned the Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS, while the new Toyota Highlander only earned a Top Safety Pick award for the same model year.
